When locks alone are
not enough
All too frequently foreclosed
homes are being targeted by
thieves looking to steal everything
from copper plumbing and bathroom
fixtures to electrical wiring
and light fixtures. Often times
this means the home will need
to be boarded.
Window
boarding - screws vs. bolts
The Tellurian Group offers competitive
pricing on two types of boarding
services: using screws to fasten
the board directly to the flashing
and/or window frame, or using
bolts that "clamp"
the board into the window frame.
More information regarding these
methods is displayed in the
panel on the right of this page.

Choosing the proper lockset
Although The Tellurian Group will install any lockset
requested by our client, certain knobs and deadbolts
are recommended when security is your top priority.
Window Boarding - Screws
The easier and less expensive method of boarding windows
involves fastening precisely-cut plywood sheets over
closed and locked windows with many closely spaced
screws. Although this method is commonly used, the
boards can be removed by anyone with the right tools
from the exterior of the property.
Window Boarding - Bolts
With this method, the window panes must be opened
or removed. Next, multiple carriage bolts connect
a precisely cut sheet of plywood on the exterior with
two 2x4 braces on the interior. This method creates
a plywood "clamp" and prevents unsightly
holes from being drilled in the exterior of the building.
In addition, the board can only be removed from inside
the property when installed correctly.
